Need a quick and easy recipe for flat bread - here it is!
Ingredients
- 280g (9.9 oz) flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for rolling
- 1 tbsp honey
- approximately 180ml (6 fl oz) water
Directions
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, olive oil, and honey. Create a well in the centre.
- Gradually pour in 3/4 of the water, mixing continuously. Add more water only if necessary to form a cohesive dough.
- Once the dough comes together and no longer sticks to the sides of the bowl, turn it out onto a floured surface. Knead for 5 minutes, then return it to the bowl. Cover with a clean tea towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- After resting, divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll them into tight balls.
- Lightly oil your work surface. Roll out each ball until it's about the size of a small dinner plate.
- Heat a cast-iron pan over high heat. Cook each flatbread for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they're nicely browned and puffed up.
- Remove the flatbreads from the pan and let them cool slightly before serving.
